OS/390 UNIX Services Implementation

Overview:
This course replaces ESP25. Develop the skills to install and customize the OS/390 UNIX System Services environment. Learn how to manage and monitor the OS/390 UNIX environment. Hands-on lab projects may be done in teams depending on the number of attendees and location.
Who Should Take This Course:
Minimum eligibility is experienced OS/390 system programmers.
- What You Are Taught:
- Prepare an OS/390 installation for implementing OS/390 UNIX
- Install the OS/390 UNIX software features
- Perform the customization to implement the OS/390 UNIX kernel, the file system, the shell and utilities, and OS/390 UNIX applications
- Implement the RACF security required for OS/390 UNIX resources and applications
- Define the activation of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) sockets by OS/390 UNIX
- Identify and utilize the processes and data required for monitoring and tuning the OS/390 UNIX environment

Prerequisites:
You should complete:
- Introduction to OS/390 UNIX Services (ESP05)
Or have a basic knowledge of OS/390 UNIX and have the skills required installing an OS/390 product using System Modification Program/Extended (SMP/E) and batch jobs to update system data sets. Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) knowledge is helpful, but not required.
